The major god of Sringeri, Sri Sharada, has a long & renowned origin that dates back to Sri Sankara Bhagavatpada, who establish the Dakshinamnaya Peetham. It was initially only a basic shrine with Sri Adi Shankara’s rock-carved Sri Chakra & a sandalwood Sharada Murti noted upper it.

Following that, Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha and Sri Vidyaranya built a shrine in the Keralan style with a timber & tiled roof. Sri Bharati Krishna Tirtha exchanged the sandalwood icon with the current golden one. Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati constructed the current building out of decision, with shiny resolve walls around the sacred land. Chandrasekhara Bharati loyal it in May 1916. In many respects, Sri Abhinava Vidyatirtha made the shrine better.
