Ahobilam Temple History

A explanation in the Padmapurana attach with the Vishnu Purana & a few other Puranic texts. It states that “In a last being alive, Hiranyakasipu had revered Brahma & had got blessings from Him to the effect that he would be so strong that neither a man nor an animal could kill him, that he wouldn’t die during the day or at night & that no weapon of any type could harm him. It was clear that he would act lordly and irrepressibly toward the gods after getting these blessings & it became essential to have him put to death.

But, he as well required to mark the blessing that Brahma allowed him. As a consequence, Vishnu took on the shape of a man-lion. And while sitting on the doorsill of Hiranyakasipu’s palace, tore Hiranyakasipu with his claws during the last moments of daylight before nightfall.

None of the blessings that Brahma had offered to the devil were back or show how something is done to be abortive in doing so, which is what eventually caused the devil to die. The Sthalapurana tells the following mythical story regarding the place & importance of Ahobilam. In the Krtayuga, this sacred site was the kingdom of Hiranyakasipu. When Lord Narasimha appeared from the demon’s palace through a pillar.
