History

Goddess Nimishamba is thinking about as the incarnation of Goddess Parvathi, the partner of Lord Shiva. This location Ganjam is thinking about as a sacred location. Muktharaja of Somavamsha Aryakshatriya organized atonement at Nimishamba Temple.

Shrichakra is sculpt on a stone in front of Sri Nimishamba & pooja is organizing. There is a trust that Goddess Nimishamba is going to discard all the bothers & obstacles of her worshippers within a minute. That is why she is whooping Nimishamba. Nimisha means a minute & Amba is the name of Parvathi. That is why there is a god Lord Shiva by the name of Moukthikeshwara.

The temple of Nimishamba lies at a distance of 2 kilometers from Srirangapatna bus stand in the eastern direction beyond Tippu’s summer palace on the road leading to Sangam. The river flows by at a lower level & steps have neatly cut on stone slabs to arrive it. It’s a small temple with a 7-tiered Rajagopuram. It’s a fine piece of an idol. She is beautifully bedecked with jewelry & garlands of red roses. In front of the Goddess is placing the Sri Chakra to which puja is completing with kumkum by the priest. The pilgrims stand in rapt attention till deeparadhana is giving to the god.

The idol is a small sized linga. The Nandi is proportionately small sized & is diagonally facing Siva. Only after giving `deeparadhana’ to Siva, it is giving to the Goddess. Adjoining this sannidhi is that of Lakshminarayana. All the 3 sannidhis are in a row. There’re no suka nasi & Navaranga. There is only a mukha mantapa.

It would be of interest to note that marriage proposals which have pulled on for years, get clicked soon after visiting this temple. It’s probable that the shrine might have constructed during the reign of Raja Wadiyar I (1610–38 A.D.) who climbed the Mysore throne at Srirangapatna. Regular puja has completed for the previous 50 years. The shrine falls under the HR & CE of Karnataka State. One of the shrines is as well situated at OTC Road Cottonpet (Near Majestic), Bangalore. Another shrine is situating near Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, Bangalore.
