Mizoram Assembly Election 2023 – The 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election was held on 7 November 2023 to elect all 40 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly. The results for the election are awaiting & will announce on 3 December 2023 together with results of State assembly elections of Rajasthan, MP, Chattisgarh & Telangana.
The tenure of Mizoram Legislative Assembly is scheduling to end on 17 December 2023. The last assembly elections were held in November 2018. After the election, Mizo National Front formed the state government, with Zoramthanga becoming CM.

The elections to 40 assembly constituencies in Mizoram will held on November 7, 2023 & the counting of votes will happen on December 3. The term of the Mizoram Assembly ends on December 17 this year. In the 40-member Mizoram Assembly, the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) has 27 members, main opposition Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has 6 legislators, Congress has 5 MLAs & BJP has one member.
MNF led by Zoramthanga is exploring for a 2nd straight term in the Mizoram 2023 elections. In all, it has ruled for three terms since Mizoram became a state in 1987, after the then PM & Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi signed the Mizo peace accord, while its principal rival the Congress has had 4 terms in power.

Political Parties to contest Mizoram Assembly election 2023
The Mizoram Assembly election 2023 will witness a multi-corner contest, with the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) & the Congress fielding their contestants. On October 5, the ruling MNF declared the contestant list for all 40 seats, with Chief Minister Zoramthanga & Deputy CM Tawnluia contesting from Aizawl East – I & Tuichang constituencies, respectively. The MNF’s list features 2 women & 15 new faces.

Mizoram Assembly Election 2023 Voting Date
The dates of voting & result for Mizoram Assembly Election 2023 was declaring by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 9. Voting in the state will held in a single phase on November 7. As soon as the election dates were declaring on Monday, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into force.
