2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Specs
Range Rovers are no strangers to rowdy V8s, but the Range Rover Sport SV is on another level. It gets an exclusive twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, making 626 hp & 553 pound-feet of torque—a 51-hp & 38-pound-feet bump over the Range Rover Sport SVR’s supercharged V8. As per Land Rover, the run to 60 mph takes as little as 3.6 seconds & the heavy SUV can keep accelerating all the way to 180 mph.
Land Rover installed air suspension with pitch & roll control to keep everything planted & the SUV rolls on 23-inch lightweight carbon fiber wheels. The active suspension features height-adjustable air springs & auto-leveling during cornering and acceleration. Further weight reduction is available with carbon ceramic brakes & a carbon fiber hood.
Fat, 305-section rear tires duo with 285-section front tires & the SUV comes standard with Michelin Pilot Sport All S4 tires. Those meaty tires enable lateral acceleration of more than 1.1g, which Land Rover says is a 22-percent improvement over the SVR. The statement is even more impressive considering the SVR ran performance summer tires.
Engine, Transmission & Performance
The entry-level engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that employs a 48-volt hybrid system & makes 355 horsepower in the P360 SE & 395 horsepower in the P400 SE Dynamic. When we tested the P360 SE, it required only 5.7 seconds to hit 60 mph but felt more sluggish than that around town. Our test vehicle delivered peerless ride quality, though, which was appreciating over the broken tarmac near our Michigan headquarters. A plug-in-hybrid P550e setup is complete to the fancy Autobiography trim and duo an electric motor to the inline-6 for a combined 542 horsepower. Land Rover estimates the PHEV powertrain will motivate the Range Rover Sport to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

All models come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, standard all-wheel drive & an adjustable air suspension. The Range Rover Sport can as well had with an optional performance driving setup called Stormer Handling Pack, which adds rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring.

The cost difference between old & new will likely grow larger with the advent of an electric model, though the gas models will debut 1st.
