Patel took oath as Chief Minister of Gujarat for a second term in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other prominent BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani. BJP has won 156 out of 182 seats in Gujarat Assembly. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered oaths to 16 newly elected MLAs including Patel. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhupendra Patel on Monday took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the second consecutive term in Gandhinagar. Patel, 60, was sworn in as the 18th chief minister by Governor Acharya Devvrat at the helipad ground near the new secretariat in Gandhinagar. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, members of the Union Cabinet, and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. The leaders who made it to the first list are Bachubhai Khabad, Purushottam Solanki, Harsh Shanghvi, and Jagdish Vishwakarma.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, members of the Union Cabinet, and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. Along with Patel, a 16-member Council of Ministers, including a woman, was also sworn in on Monday. The new ministerial team has representation from the Patidar, Koli, Adivasi, and Dalit communities, and 11 former ministers are among the new entrants.
