In total, 448 cricket players were auctioned off during the first Women’s Premier League (WPL). The WPL is India’s premier franchise–based T20 men’s cricket league, which is run by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. It is the IPL for women.
Women Premier League 2024
The WPL auction 2024 was to be held on February 2024. The women’s Premier League is going to start soon this year. Total 22 matches in Women’s Premier League from March 2024 at Brabourne Stadium and D.Y. Patil Stadium. A total of 409 players have been shortlisted for the WPL 2024 auction, out of which 246 are Indians and the rest 163 are from other countries. Initially, a total of 1525 players were shortlisted for Women’s Premier League 2024 after which only 409 players have been placed in the final auction list by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, as we mentioned above that 163 are overseas players, out of which 8 players from allied countries. There are 24 players in the final auction list with a reserve price of ₹50 Lakh, out of 24, 13 players are from other countries and the rest are Indians.
