Vikas Divyakirti Career
After completing his Master of Arts degree, he made the decision to take the UPSC examination. In 1996, he took the UPSC examination and remarkably cleared it on his first attempt, securing the 384th rank with sociology as his optional subject. Although he got success, his aspirations to serve as an Assistant Commandant of the CISF were dashed when he was deemed medically unfit due to his flat feet. Undeterred, he opted to join the central secretariat under the Ministry of Home Affairs instead.
The following year, he made his 2nd attempt at the UPSC examination but unfortunately couldn’t clear the main examination. Nonetheless, he persisted & pursued his Ph.D. while preparing for his 3rd attempt. This time, he chose philosophy as his optional subject; but, he fell short in the interview round. In 1999, he got a joining letter from the central secretariat, but he decided against accepting the offer. Finally, due to mounting debts, he reluctantly joined the civil service, viewing it as an opportunity to alleviate his financial burdens.
Assigned to a post in the home ministry, he specifically appealed to work in the Rajbhasha department. Unfortunately, after only 6 months of service, he decided to resign from his post. In 2003, he made his 4th & final attempt at the UPSC examination.

Vikas Divyakirti established IAS Coaching Classes in Delhi in 1999 for simple coaching for UPSC exam aspirants. Vikas is as well the editor of the current affairs monthly magazine called Drishti Current Affairs Today. In 2017, he established a YouTube channel named Drishti IAS. Uploads study material, lectures & exam preparation strategy videos. He has as well written many books.
As per the news, he founded Drishti IAS after he was dismissed from the post of Hindi lecturer at Shivji College at Delhi University. He began Drishti IAS by borrowing Rs 15,000 from his friends & hired chairs & classrooms to begin coaching classes. Dr. Vikash began giving lectures in Hindi due to which it became easy for the aspirants to read & understand. About 11 to 15 students came in their 1st batch.
